Senior Software Engineer - DevOps

Essential Job Functions:

The Senior Software Engineer (DevOps) will work on a variety of projects and programs across the company’s platforms and will focus on new medical device development. This role will be an integral member of the software development team helping to build a sustainable software platform across devices. Our Senior Software Engineers play important roles as technical leaders in our product development. We recognize that every developer brings a unique take and skill set to a role and are excited to grow our team and are focused on good people and can adapt our roles accordingly.

  • Architect and maintain CI/CD tools including automated builds, automated tests, and other development tools.
  • Configure and maintain cloud services including Gitlab, AWS, and similar tools in support of software development and test practices.
  • Conducts peer-reviews and technical assessments to ensure robust solutions and compliance with quality procedures.
  • Mentors less experienced Software Engineers, providing feedback and guidance on best-practices and software architecture.
  • Collaborates with project leadership and other engineering disciplines to develop software and software development processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a similar field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years professional software development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting, developing, and maintain CI/CD Pipelines and Processes
  • Strong familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure services and configuration. Experience with AWS EC2 and S3 are a plus.
  • Experience with version control (GitLab, Github, BitBucket, SVN, etc.).
  • Familiarity with one or more scripting languages including bash, python, yaml, etc.
  • Medical device experience (or similarly regulated field) and strong understanding of software development/validation under IEC 62304 within an FDA QSR or ISO 13485 quality management system.
  • Knowledge of C/C++ development practices including compilers, linters, linkers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of object-oriented C++ programming is a plus.
  • Experience with embedded Linux development including Yocto, BitBake is a plus.
  • Experience with C/C++ GUI development frameworks is a plus.
  • Experience developing automated tests with an xUnit/mock framework is a plus.
  • Knowledge of software hardening techniques against cybersecurity attacks is a plus.

Working Conditions:

Office setting involves sitting and standing, occasional stooping and bending, lifting up to 15 pounds, utilizing phone and computer equipment.

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $120,000 – 160,000 annualized. LightDeck offers a competitive benefits package with medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). This position is open to remote and hybrid work.
