Ardelyx is a publicly traded commercial biopharmaceutical company founded with a mission to discover, develop and commercialize innovative first-in-class medicines that meet significant unmet medical needs. Ardelyx has two commercial products approved in the United States, IBSRELA® (tenapanor) and XPHOZAH® (tenapanor). Ardelyx has agreements for the development and commercialization of tenapanor outside of the U.S. Kyowa Kirin commercializes PHOZEVEL® (tenapanor) for hyperphosphatemia in Japan. A New Drug Application for tenapanor for hyperphosphatemia has been submitted in China with Fosun Pharma. Knight Therapeutics commercializes IBSRELA in Canada. We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Associate Director, Market Research to join our growing team. This individual will play a critical role in providing data-driven insights to inform commercial strategy, optimize product positioning, and drive business decisions. Reporting to the VP of Operations and Analytics, the Associate Director will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing primary and secondary market research and competitive intelligence initiatives across the company's portfolio. Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of market research projects to support commercial decision-making, including brand strategy, forecasting, competitive intelligence, and customer insights
- Identify and implement innovative market research methodologies to provide actionable insights that drive strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales, Market Access, and Medical Affairs to translate research findings into impactful business recommendations
- Manage relationships with external vendors and research partners, ensuring the quality and relevance of data collected
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities and potential risks
- Develop and present comprehensive research reports and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
- Participate in forecasting efforts by integrating market insights with business analytics
- Ensure all market research activities comply with industry regulations and ethical standards
- Monitor and analyze competitor activities, including pipeline developments, regulatory filings, clinical trial updates, and commercial strategies
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field with 8 - 10 years of experience in market research within the biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industries
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) preferred
- Strong knowledge of primary and secondary research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative techniques
- Experience managing third-party research vendors and consultants
- Proven ability to synthesize complex data into clear, strategic insights
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, with experience in forecasting models a plus
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects
- Hybrid corporate office (Waltham, MA, preferred) or remote-based position
