Summary

CHS, a diversified global agribusiness cooperative owned by farmers and local cooperatives across the United States, has an exciting opportunity to support the communication needs of the company’s product lines. This position will collaborate with a team of communication experts to support the product lines that make up our agriculture, operations, go-to-market, transportation and energy businesses. 
As a business communication senior specialist, this individual will play a pivotal role shaping, strategizing and executing agriculture business communication plans aimed at bolstering employee engagement and enhancing the business's overall performance. This role will actively contribute to critical agriculture initiatives and must convey essential information to both internal and external stakeholders while providing valuable support during times of change.
The communication senior specialist is part of the company’s dynamic CHS communication team and reports to the leader of agriculture communications.  
 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with ag business and product line teams to provide strategic communication support and execution
  • Understand the agriculture platform and the company’s strategies to ensure communication strategies and tactics align with business, owner and customer needs
  • Collaborate with business partners to create clear messaging on complex topics impacting agriculture and the global supply chain
  • Develop materials to support the execution of communication plans, including key messages, organizational announcements, timelines, FAQs and slide decks
  • Provide presentation, speech development and visual content support to business leaders speaking at external conferences
  • Seek examples from the business to find and frame stories, infographics and other content ideas that utilize storytelling to convey the value of CHS to owners and customers
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications colleagues and partners across other businesses and functions to ensure messaging and brand consistency
  • Create internal communication for business leaders to better engage employees in CHS business goals and growth strategies
  • Support ROI and KPI metrics to report effectiveness of communication and value creation

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Five+ years of experience in strategic communication
  • Experience creating and implementing internal and external communication strategies and programs
  • Business acumen and interest in the agribusiness industry
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate a complex global organization
  • Demonstrable experience creating internal and external presentations for leaders, including speeches, power point presentations and multimedia content
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills to clearly articulate ideas and strategies
  • Familiarity with content development and creating/managing content across channels 
  • Experience creatively interfacing with other teams within a company including businesses and enabling functions
  • Experience operating independently and executing flawlessly on strategic and tactical levels
     

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism or related field
  • Ability to consistently deliver within established deadlines while prioritizing, multi-tasking and advancing several projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work in-person 1-2 days/week at the CHS headquarters in Inver Grove Heights 
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Experience managing video projects and shooting and editing videos and photos
