The Assistant Director of Athletics Media Relations serves as the primary media relations contact for selected sports, assigned by the director, which will include men’s basketball. This position will also assist in directing administrative operations for athletic media relations.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

Responsibilities for the Assistant Director of Athletics Media Relations include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Serves as the primary contact for assigned sports as assigned by the director, which will include men’s basketball; this position will be the direct contact for a minimum of three Towson University sports
  • Assists with the development of a comprehensive strategic communications plan for the department of athletics, including traditional media, social media, internal media, and the athletic department website, Towsontigers.com
  • Assists with the Towson athletics external team, including fan experience, Towson Sports Network, ticketing, Van Wagner, Tiger Athletic Fund, and other entities, as necessary

 

The work hours for this position include nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel is required.

 

Qualifications and Skills

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year of experience in athletics media relations or a related field, including experience as a graduate assistant or student employee
  • Proficiency in all social media platforms, primarily Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Working knowledge of statistical programs used by the NCAA, including Statcrew and Genius Sports
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
  • Ability to create press releases and deliver quickly in a professional manner

 

Preferred Qualification:

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs
 Salary and Benefits 

Targeted hiring range is $52,000 - $58,000 and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
