About the role
Our partner, located in New Haven, CT is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead their asset management program and oversee various critical functions within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction in Engineering, Maintenance Planning, and Water Supply Planning.
- Cultivate a culture of teamwork, communication, and collaboration.
- Ensure a safe working environment and enforce workplace safety policies.
- Manage and implement exceptional project management practices.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive project management manual.
- Assign work and goals to department staff and handle performance management.
- Promote staff participation in relevant industry projects and committees.
- Lead asset management efforts, develop policies, and implement best practices.
- Investigate and implement asset management software.
- Develop Key Performance Indicators and metrics for asset management.
- Administer a dam safety program and compliance with regulations.
- Oversee water supply planning, water diversion, and reduction of non-revenue water.
- Coordinate professional services from technical consultants.
- Assist in rate cases and bond financing efforts.
- Manage department budgets for facilities, equipment, supplies, and human resources.
- Support the Operations Division in O&M and capital delivery activities.
- Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
- Provide technical advice and support to the RWA Leadership Team.
- Participate in Strategic Plan Goal Teams.
- Represent the Authority on water utility coordination committees.
- Prepare high-quality reports to communicate project/program and financial status.
- Document and maintain necessary records.
- Actively engage in industry associations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Process Engineering or a related field.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer is required.
- Preferred: Ten or more years of water and/or wastewater industry experience with achievements in project management, personnel management, department management, and asset management.
- Strong leadership skills, including vision creation and motivation.
- Ability to work independently and achieve goals.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Outstanding interpersonal and team-building skills.
