The Senior Quality Engineer role is a key position with responsibility for providing quality system and product quality engineering support. The Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for identifying key opportunities and implementing projects, tracking and reporting system metrics to improve product quality, processes, and regulatory compliance. They will use their knowledge of quality systems, advanced product and quality planning (APQP), supplier management, program management, continuous improvement tools, and commodity manufacturing processes to manage the key (Supplier Development) SD workstreams: High Risk Supplier APQP, Focus Supplier, Supplier Continuous Improvement/Cost-Out, and Supplier Risk Management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain the QMS database and provide a monthly status report on the following QMS requirements:
- CAPA Status (Internal/Customer/Supplier)
- Material review board actions
- Internal audits
- Approved Supplier Status
- FAA Product Conformity Status
- Calibration
- Supplier performance – Quality & OTD Customer complaints
- Applicable corporate metrics as identified
- Able and willing to train company employees on QMS requirements
- Coordinate FAA conformity inspections and process 8130-9 forms
- Develop and implement SOP, Visual Aids, and quality process documents as required
- Maintain a calibration recall system
- Coordinate pre-assessment and accreditation audits with ISO/AS accreditation registrar
- Maintain and support the company CAPA program
- Coordinate corrective action responses from stakeholders
- Coordinate and support daily MRB activity
- Lead projects as assigned
- Work jointly with Manufacturing Engineering with developing and qualifying production processes
- Schedule and perform Configuration Audits internally, and at key sources of supply
- Works cross-functionally with (Supply Chain Management) SCM, Engineering, and Operations to ensure supplier sourcing, launch and on-going performance meet defined targets and overall business needs
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Benefits
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field
- 6-10 years of experience working in a similar role
- 5+ years of experience in using quality tools/methodologies (PPAP, APQP, QSA, SPC, auditing)
- Knowledge and experience of process, product and system auditing
- Have current knowledge of FAA CFR 21 and 145
- Experience developing and managing Project Plans from inception to closure
- IFE or Avionics experience
- Experienced Team Leader
- Knowledge of Industry specific quality registrations (ISO9001, AS9100, NADCAP)
- Experience in facilitating Root Cause Analysis methodologies utilizing Statistical Analysis, Process FMEA, Pareto Analysis, and Fishbone Analysis
- Must have current knowledge of ASME Y 14.5
- Must have current knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Visio
- Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt highly desired
Pay: $98,000 - $130,000 per year
