The Opportunity:
The position is responsible for planning and executing special projects and providing high-level administrative support to the leadership team in the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). It serves as a confidential administrative assistant to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and other key leaders within the VTH. Provides and maintains a high level of knowledge of University, College and VTH policies and procedures and interprets/communicates related information to over 250 faculty, staff and students employed within the VTH. Serves as liaison between CMO, COO and staff to ensure high-level of communication within the VTH. Exercises independent judgement and is assigned delegated authority in areas such as equipment replacement/purchase processes, accessions reporting, after-hours scheduling, facilities operations coordination and office space management and other areas critical to hospital operations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: utilizing spreadsheets and databases to track and manage client surveys, accessions, equipment purchases, funding of special projects and other information relevant to hospital operations; preparing, managing, maintaining and communicating complex hospital schedules; receiving, sorting and responding to client email; and disseminating information to external and internal constituents.
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$3,477 to $4,632 | Range 40 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
High School graduation or equivalent AND three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in office/clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping, accounting, or general administrative work; OR equivalent education/experience.
Demonstrated strong computer skills and competency with Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel.
Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Microsoft Office Access.
Experience working in an office setting.
Experience working in medical setting.
