Purpose/Introduction

The Reliability Engineer in the Equipment Reliability Group will provide Fixed Equipment technical support to plant personnel and take ownership of improving plant reliability performance.  This individual will report to the Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineering Team Lead and will collaborate with the area Fixed Equipment Analysts, Reliability Specialists, Operations, and Maintenance to develop and maintain programs that improve the reliability and integrity of plant fixed equipment.

Responsibilities

General Unit Support

  • Improves equipment reliability in assigned production units
  • Engages with unit Operations and Maintenance for the purpose of improving plant reliability
  • Participates in unit turnaround planning and execution


Reliability Improvement Programs

  • Leads unit Bad Actor Team(s), collaborating with Operations and Maintenance
  • Creates and maintains reliability list with reliability improvement/upgrade opportunities, bad actor equipment, and ongoing issues
  • Conducts Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on high impact or repeat equipment failures
  • Develops and implements Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Asset Strategies on high criticality equipment
  • Utilizes preventative and predictive maintenance, and time-based and condition-based reliability methods and techniques
  • Recommends and implements upgrades/modifications to equipment to increase reliability and reduce maintenance cost and operating issues
  • Develops, reviews data, and reports out on key performance indicators

Responsibilities (continued)

Technical Support

  • Troubleshoots equipment issues and shares findings for continuous improvement
  • Performs basic reliability engineering analysis and calculations
  • Implements company and industry equipment best practices
  • Participates in scope development and repair of equipment
  • Works with project engineers to ensure that the best designs/philosophies are being implemented with new equipment installations/modifications
  • Collaborates with industry suppliers to improve equipment design, application, or installation with impact on equipment reliability
  • Develops reliability plans, preventative maintenance programs, and repair specifications to minimize recurring equipment performance issues.
  • Provides technical expertise for equipment and reliability driven MOC’s
  • Supports the execution of the inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance program

 

 

 

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • At least 3 years of fixed equipment experience in the petro/chemical/manufacturing industry
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with fixed equipment operation, repair techniques, design standards and specifications
  • Ability to prioritize reliability improvements (through data-based decision making), quantify value, and drive to completion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple site organizations
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)           

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of fixed equipment experience is preferred
  • Experience in root cause failure analysis and FMEAs
  • Proficiency in SAP and Meridium
