Position Summary
The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) and the College of Engineering at The University of Alabama (UA) invite applications for multiple tenure-track positions at the rank of Associate Professor in the area of Water Resources Engineering. Expertise of particular interest includes field hydrology, sensor technologies and platforms for water resources monitoring, multilevel water observation and edge computing, artificial intelligence for hydrologic observation and analysis, and integration of water observations with hydroinformatics tools for data management, processing, and visualization. This is an exciting time at The University of Alabama, and positions may also be available at the Assistant and/or Full Professor ranks.

This posting is specific for candidates applying for a position at the rank of tenure-track Associate Professor. The CCEE Department is seeking candidates in the following research area:

• Water Resources Engineering (including focus areas in field hydrology, water observing technologies, and hydroinformatics).

In the area of Water Resources Engineering, we are particularly interested in candidates with research interests in field hydrology, water observation systems, and hydroinformatics relevant to civil and environmental engineering and closely aligned with the Alabama Water Institute (AWI: https://awi.ua.edu/) and the Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH: https://ciroh.ua.edu). To best align with CIROH and its mission, candidates should possess expertise in one or more of the following research areas: (1) remote sensing and water observing technologies; (2) hydrologic information systems and hydroinformatics; (3) hydrologic data management, visualization, analytics, and web applications; and (4) large-domain hydrologic modeling.

The University of Alabama is a national leader in water resources research, developing solutions to the water challenges facing society today and well into the future. UA is the home to a variety of organizations and units that focus on water-related research including the Alabama Water Institute, the NOAA Cooperative Institute on Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH), the Global Water Security Center, and the Center for Freshwater Studies. A unique opportunity for faculty members is the potential to collaborate with scientists and operational hydrologists at two federal facilities located on The University of Alabama campus – the National Water Center and the United States Geological Survey’s Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility. While all of these water-related research institutes and centers and operational facilities engage faculty from across The University of Alabama, the UA College of Engineering and its departments and faculty play a central and pivotal
