The Role:

Mechanical engineers will maintain the hotel equipment in optimum operating condition by performing preventative maintenance and repairs. Responsible for providing world-class customer service in alignment with company standards. This includes calls for hotel guest rooms, front of house and heart of house. Mechanical engineers will troubleshoot, diagnose and repair commercial food equipment and appliances such as grills, ovens (Rational and UNOX), ice machines, walk-in coolers and freezers, fryers, etc...

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The job incumbent follows hotel and corporate policies, guidelines and the hotel’s business plan. Perform preventative maintenance throughout other areas of the hotel, including both in the front and heart of the house. Maintain heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment in optimal operating condition by performing routine maintenance and repairs in guest rooms and front of the house areas.

This position requires:

  • At least 5 years of technical experience in refrigeration, appliance repair, kitchen equipment and HVAC

  • Relevant technical training, licenses, and/or certifications e.g., EPA, CFESA, Journeyman license in HVAC

  • Experience in commercial refrigeration and/or commercial cooking equipment repair

  • Experience in commercial refrigeration and/or commercial cooking equipment repair – preferred, but not required.

  • Additional experience with ice machines, HVAC and refrigeration is extremely helpful

  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment repair and maintenance

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal direct supervision – REQUIRED.

As a Commercial Kitchen Service Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with restaurant and hospitality managers to provide service solutions for commercial cooking, refrigeration, dishwashers, and other specialty food service equipment

  • Demonstrating your mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills while reading diagrams and schematics to identify and resolve equipment issues

  • Frequently kneeling, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and occasionally lifting and carrying up to 70 pounds

  • Working with moving mechanical parts, pressurized steam equipment, open flames, heated surfaces, liquids, and a risk of electrical shock in various environmental conditions

  • Working on ladders, and in rare cases, high, precarious places

  • Install, repair, and maintain commercial kitchen equipment

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues with kitchen equipment

  • Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions

  • Assemble and disassemble equipment for repair or replacement of parts

  • Willingness and ability to participate in an emergency room call and assist engineers in various trades and coverage of shift

  • Coordinate with management to assure consistency in our service strategy and executio
