About the role

Responsible for supporting operations and processes as they relate to Program Manager clients. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining the documentation framework for new and existing Programs to support management function, analyzing programs and their components to support reporting requirements and ensure business expectations for Program are accomplished. Manage operational set up of reporting and data analytics processes related to new accounts. Work with other internal functional departments to monitor specific risk aspects, following up on issues raised by the Program client, and internal reporting by each Program.

Program Business

The Analyst, Specialty Programs performs financial analyses and reconciliations for those programs with design structures that deviate from State National’s standard model. To ensure that the financial risks associated with these Specialty Risk Programs are successfully monitored and mitigated, the Analyst assists in determining the financial and credit risks, and helps implement risk mitigation strategies.  These risk mitigation processes may include:  maintaining effective reconciliations over all areas impacting the premium trust and claim funding accounts, documenting controls in place, monitoring the results from the risk mitigation strategies and supporting the Director and Senior Manager, Specialty Programs with communications to the VP and executive management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

New programs

  • Participate in developing risk mitigation plans for new alternative risk programs including: risk mitigation strategies, oversight procedures and communication and reporting framework.
  • Assist with due diligence for potential new deals.

Existing programs

  • Monitor potential risks from a cash/credit/financial perspective.
  • Analyze premium trust accounts.
  • Monitor claims’ bank accounts.
  • Perform necessary reconciliations.
  • Prepare and distribute invoices. 
  • Review bank account activity.
  • Assume projects/special duties as assigned by Vice President – Specialty Programs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge

  • Intermediate or higher level of knowledge of Microsoft Office products or equivalent programs, particularly Excel.
  • Insurance accounting experience preferred
  • Ability to learn systems and use all technology available.

Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be a person of high integrity. No other duties or relationships should interfere with this individual’s decision making.

Experience/Education

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis.
  • Degree in accounting or finance preferred
