Medical Paraprofessional

Birmingham Public Schools is seeking a Medical Paraprofessional for the 2026-27 school year.
This is a full-time, 10-month position.
 

Job Summary:
The Medical 1:1 Paraprofessional provides individualized assistance to a student with medical and physical needs, working under the supervision of certified school personnel. This position supports the student throughout the school day to ensure safety, access to instruction, and participation in educational and school-related activities. Duties focus on medical monitoring, Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), mobility, safety, and functional academic support in both school and community-based environments.
 

Qualifications & Education:
(1) 60 semester hours of college credit or obtained an associate's degree preferred; or
(2) Met a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrated through a formal state or local academic assessment:
(3) Knowledge of, and ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or
(4) Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
