About the role
Amazon WorkSpaces is revolutionizing end user computing by providing fully managed Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) solutions from the AWS Cloud. Organizations can easily provision cloud-based desktops that allow their users to access documents, applications and the resources they need with the device of their choice, including laptops, iPad, Kindle Fire, Android tablets, and zero clients. We are looking for a seasoned Software Development Manager, ideally with a decade or more of software development experience to run our Console and Tools team. A successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of outstanding engineers and developers, make multi-year architectural decisions and lead R&D efforts to drive critical growth areas for the product.

They are fully responsible for the day to day operations of the team and held to a high standard on the quality of product produced and the quality of ongoing support and maintenance provided to our customers. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
- Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
- 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
- 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Bachelor Degree or equivalent years of experience
- 7+ years of software development experience
- 3+ years of people management experience
- Prior front-end/UI experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving
- Proven track record of delivery
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects in an Agile environment
- Experience designing and building customer facing products
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
