Overview
Join the ITility team and make a difference! ITility seeks a talented Quality Assurance & Test Automation Engineer to support our contract with the United States Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM). This position will be remote with occasional travel to USMEPCOM HQ in Waukegan, IL. We provide enterprise IT support to USMEPCOM, a Major Command of the United States (U.S.) Department of Defense (DoD), which screens and processes applicants into the U.S. Armed Forces. USMEPCOM is the vital link between recruiting and training armed forces and operates 65 Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) located throughout the U.S.
The Quality Assurance & Test Automation Engineer supports the Applications team responsible for building new features and modernizing applications associated with processing candidates enlisting in the Armed Forces. This position works to provide the development team with automated tests that ensure the capabilities under development meet or exceed all customer requirements.
This is an opportunity for you to work in partnership with software development and DevSecOps to ensure high-quality software is delivered to USMEPCOM. In a highly collaborative environment, you will be offering feedback to streamline the development process and automate testing. You may be responsible for interfacing with end users to demonstrate software capabilities and ascertain areas of improvement. As an experienced Quality Assurance & Test Automation Engineer, you may also be required to provide support and guidance to other team members.

Responsibilities
Successful candidates will possess resent knowledge and hands-on experience with:
- Support the creation, maintenance, and management of test plans, test suites, estimation, test artifacts, and test cases within a test management system for manual and/or automated testing.
- Build, deploy and run containerized workloads across different environments
- Provide developers with a consistent testing infrastructure and automated tests to ensure code being developed meets the customers’ needs and automated test coverage is maximized
- Interface with engineering teams and leadership to help identify and refine relevant test coverage
- Work with different internal customer facing teams, understanding the different deployment scenarios, upgrade paths and dependencies
- Design and document test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures
- Provide feedback to developers regarding functionality and usability of software
- Understand how the various components of the Applicant Processing System (APS) fit together with particular attention to testing, security, and quality
- Track new product features and design changes and implement corresponding testing strategies
- Collaborate with internal teams to solve issues involving test automation
- Experienced in Selenium, AWS cloud architecture, and knowledge using JIRA and Confluence tools.
- Report/track bugs for every release and track them till they are closed
- Proactive and strong communicator in both technical and business settings.
- An expert in software testing practices for web apps
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Demonstrate strong programming fundamentals, preferably with experience in Selenium and Java
- Additional Test Framework Experience using CI/CD Pipeline testing
- Experience with automation tools and technologies (e.g. Git, Terraform, Ansible)
- Familiarity with one or more CI/CD tools such as GitLab or similar
- Experience with Kubernetes or Docker
- Ability to ramp up quickly and contribute to a production codebase
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, and GitLab
- Possess a drive for excellence and quality
Required Education, Certifications, and Clearance:
- Must be a US Citizen and able to pass and maintain a DoD security clearance
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline.
