At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Pennington Biomedical is located within state-of-the-art research facilities on a 222-acre campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Job Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor in Biostatistics in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Pennington Biomedical Research Center is seeking an innovative and dynamic faculty member for the Department of Biostatistics. The chosen candidate will work in close collaboration with Principal Investigators to provide biostatistical support for federal grant applications and funded research studies. This support includes the development of research questions, assessing the feasibility of outcomes, designing clinical experiments and interventional studies to generate and analyze the resulting data, and working with teams to appropriately interpret the results.

All candidates must show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills. All candidates should provide evidence of outstanding interdisciplinary research potential. In addition, preferred candidates, depending on rank, will also have a record of genuine interest in interdisciplinary collaborations in translational research, innovative methodological research, and a successful record of extramural funding support. This position is 100% research based with no teaching effort.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or other closely related field. Experience and demonstrated interest in active collaboration in biomedical and public health research including animal studies, clinical trials, and population studies are highly desirable.

Candidates with demonstrated experience in novel statistical methods and study design methods will be prioritized. Areas of interest include cluster or group randomized trials, adaptive trials, machine learning, high dimensional data analysis, convolutional neural networks, and causal inference
