Laboratory Technician

Overview

Knowledge Services is seeking a Laboratory Technician for a 24-month contract working onsite at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.

 

• Work schedule is Monday - Friday from 8am-5pm.

• Pay rate is $14/hr

Responsibilities

Laboratory Technician Overview:

•  Purdue is looking for a Laboratory Technician resource to work in their lab and has interest in research using zebrafish as a model and learn how a small fish helps to promote human health.

•  This role has the opportunity to experience rigorous biological scientific research.

 

Responsibilities:•  Routine zebrafish facility maintenance and general laboratory support and management, such as buffer preparation, autoclaving, sample storage and inventory, and reagents ordering and receiving.•  Adult and larval fish husbandry.•  Zebrafish fin clipping and genotyping.•  Working with graduate students to perform basic laboratory experiments, such as PCR, DNA agarose electrophoresis, Western blot, and imaging using fluorescence scopes.

Qualifications

Laboratory Technician Required Skills:

•  A bachelor's degree in biology or another science related field is prioritized. •  Basic Laboratory experience

 

Preferred Skills:•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)•  Experience working in a university or large institutional setting•  Strong interpersonal and communication skills•  Strong time management abilities, with an emphasis on accuracy•  Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
