Job Description
The Role:
The Maintenance Business Maintenance Manager leads daily Body Shop Maintenance operations, overseeing throughput, managing breakdowns, and driving rapid return-to-running while supporting Maintenance Group Leaders and Shift Leaders. The role coordinates manpower and vacation planning, weekend and launch work, safety and quality follow-up, and skilled trades training, ensuring standardized work, effective cross-shift communication, and strong support for plant performance objectives.
What You’ll Do:
- Guide Maintenance Group Leader with day-to-day activities
- Monitor Build Schedule / push to return to running ASAP
- Stand in for Maintenance Group Leader as required
- Overview Manpower requirements (Over/Under requirements)
- Oversee Body Shop while Group Leader manages breakdown
- Support Maintenance Weekend Work
- Run larger/complex breakdowns
- Assist in weekend & breakdown follow up
- Track and schedule Skilled Trades training
- Assist with Safety Observation Tours
- Assist with construction activities
- Follow upon Safety Incidents
- Assist Maintenance Planner with Weekend and Launch Activities
- Assist with Scrap Reduction initiatives
- Assist with quality issues (involving Supplier Quality/Dimensional/Welding groups if required)
- Stand in for Shift Leader when required
- Leader Cross Shift meeting (1st to 2nd shift)
- Shift Rotation with other Maintenance Business Manager required (unless other Maintenance Business Manager does not want to rotate shifts)
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years Maintenance Supervisory experience or 2-year Degree with 5 years Maintenance Supervisory experience
- Ability to work rotating shifts
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience working in a union environment
- Automotive industry experience
- Experience supervising a team of skilled trades in manufacturing environments
