Accounting Specialist

Position Description

The primary duty of the Accounting Specialist is to assist in the oversight of the Company's billing, collections, asset management, and other general accounting processes and initiatives. Additionally, the Accounting Specialist will contribute towards the driving of the Company’s values and culture.

• Develop a strong, trusted partnership with APS leaders, acting as an advisor and partner in the areas of fiscal planning, reporting, and responsibility. 

• Oversee and champion the entirety of the accounting functions for the company, acting as point of contact for leadership questions and escalations. 

• Oversee and champion the entirety of the asset management functions for the company, acting as point of contact for leadership questions and escalations concerning fleet assets, fixed assets, employee-issued assets, and company branded uniforms, making suggestions and recommendations as necessary. 

• Oversee the setup, completion, and any in-depth investigations of payroll for the company, assisting the Payroll and Compliance Administrator when needed. 

• Oversee all aspects of the company’s general ledger, ensuring its balancing and transactional entries on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis are reviewed and documented. 

• Oversee the billing functions for the Security Officer personnel within the company.  

• Oversee all aspects of the company’s customer contracts, assisting with any negotiations or addenda that may arise.  

• Oversee all aspects of the company’s vendor contracts, assisting with any negotiations or addenda that may arise.  

• Assist in the company’s month-end closing reporting procedures, focusing on any reconciliations and reclassifications needed. 

• Ensure the overall cash flow and management for both the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for the company are correctly handled, noting any debts the company owes to its customers/vendors, and any debts the company is owed from the aforementioned. 

• Prepare and review, with the Controller, the preparation of state and local taxes. 

• Review any budget variances in terms of payroll and its facets. 

• Review and update any benefit-related changes for the corporate staff in the company’s HRIS. 

• Investigate internal records against external financial records to find and resolve any discrepancies on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. 

• Review and update any payroll-related information for corporate staff in the company’s HRIS. 

• Input and maintain any payroll-related changes (i.e., garnishments or payroll changes) for corporate personnel.  

• Complete and ensure the successful onboarding of new accounts and acquisitions for the company. 

• Develop a culture that enables employees to perform in accordance with Aegis Protective Services’ missions and objectives. 

• Ensure all fiscal policies and procedures adhere to federal, state, and local law.
