SENIOR LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE/GRADUATE NURSE

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS’ AFFAIRS

Lake City, Columbia County 

Annual Salary: $50,960.78

Paid Bi-weekly

Available Shifts: 3:30pm-12:00am and 11:30pm to 8:00am.  All shifts are overtime eligible.

 

All SLPN's working 2nd or 3rd shift will be eligible for $1.00/hr. shift differential.‎

 

Excellent retirement package and optional deferred compensation plan. Nine (9) paid holidays and personal day.  Tuition waiver available for State Universities and ‎Community Colleges (up to 6 credits per semester).‎

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensure in Florida as Practical Nurse, or within three (3) months of graduation, possess an eligibility letter from the Florida Board of Nursing and Authorization to Test (ATT) from Pearson VUE
  • Must possess a current CPR certification
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as required
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English: reading, speaking and writing‎
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) year of experience in long-term care or 120 bed skilled nursing facility
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent is responsible for providing quality care to the residents to ensure their health, safety and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act. Perform assigned duties to include but not limited to administration of medications and treatments per MD order, monitoring and providing interventions to meet the needs of the resident, completing accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident’s current status and supervising CNA and other supportive care giver.

 

  • Reports to the Nursing Supervisor
  • Provides administrative support that is technical in nature through established nursing standards, the individualized care plan and interdisciplinary teamwork according to established local and FDVA policies and procedures
  • Coordinates shift assignments to team members, providing supervision of licensed and unlicensed staff and follow up to ensure completion of assignments
  • Provide assistance with all aspects of resident care, treatments, self-administration of medications, coordinating medical appointments and spending time in social interactions with residents each shift worked
  • Report resident concerns and needs promptly to the appropriate team member
  • Assist with monitoring and accountability of residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health related tasks
