Scope:
Direct and coordinate Banquet department such as delivering a quality product, maintaining established operational standards and effectively leading the team.
Primary Responsibilities include the following: Others duties may be assigned.
- Comply with the national programs such as Core Beverage Program, Menu Program, Approved Product List, Beverage Bartender program.
- Effectively lead and schedule staff to ensure quality service is delivered. Continually follow up to ensure tasks are being completed timely and to the appropriate standards and that tools and equipment are operating properly.
- Ensure staff receives proper safety and job skills training through group training, on the job training, communication, meetings, etc.
- Responsible for selection, development, leadership and retention of banquet staff.
- Ensure financial targets are being met and appropriate accounting procedures are being followed consistently.
- Ensure food and beverage staff well are providing excellent guest service.
- Maintains constant communication between departments and keeps other departments informed about special programs and events.
- Monitor the placement of tables, décor, chairs and cutlery of an event, as per the theme and standards that are pre-defined
- Ensure that the documentation of the schedule and timelines are in place
- Collaborate with the chef and Private Event Coordinator and brief them on the various meal courses.
- Negotiate with various vendors and train the banqueting assistants to do the same
- Adhere to local laws and regulations while executing the banquet manager's responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of all banquet revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Compile information from market competition for comparison studies to properly position the facility in the marketplace.
- Oversee all banquet related purchasing and supervise physical inventories. Assist in the development of necessary systems to safeguard inventories.
- Review guest and member surveys and feedback and determine appropriate plan of action if appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a food and beverage leadership role
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, planning and organizational skills
- Experience supervising others and leading a team
- Excellent customer skills
Working Conditions:
Will often be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.

The major responsibility in this position is to direct the operations in the food and beverage departments. Therefore a significant amount of time is spent speaking, walking, standing and listening.
Communication skills are used a significant amount of the time when interacting with guests or staff members and when giving instructions
A significant portion of time will be spent reviewing budgets, revenues, inventories and requisitions, requiring a great deal of reasoning and thinking skills.
Since the employee in this position oversees several subordinates, a vast amount of time is spent utilizing problem solving, reasoning, motivating and training abilities.
Mathematical skills such as profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are used often.
Pay Range: $16.50 - $30/hr
