Intermodal Mobile Container Chassis Mechanic

Position Summary:

 

This position is responsible for performing repairs to intermodal containers and chassis to industry standards.

 

This position will be responsible to:

 

• Safety operate and drive a service truck while controlling the movement
• Ability to perform chassis repairs as Lights, Tires, Landing Legs, ABS Brakes and Framework,
• Repair Intermodal Containers, replace flooring, welding repairs, locking systems, structural repairs. 
• Repair equipment in accordance with steamship line IILCL criteria and railroad manufacture & FMCSA guidelines.
• Document repairs according to an established reporting system, verbally and in writing
• Knowledge and experience with welding and acetylene torches.
• Knowledge of materials and proper use.
• Ability to operate power and hand tools
• Work safe and follow all required safety procedures and guidelines.  
• Workspace must be always kept clean.
• Follow instructions as directed by staff supervisor.
• Ability to work in changing weather conditions.
• Ability to climb in out of containers mounted on chassis and safely use step ladders
• Workspace must be kept clean.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

Skill Sets / Education & Experience Requirements:

 

• High School Diploma required.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to lift 50lbs
• Have own tools
• Open availability
• Wiliness to complete a criminal background, drug screen and physical.
• Strong Work Ethic
