More about our team

At North Alabama Medical Center, our Emergency Department is supported by a collaborative team of 70 RNs and nursing support staff. We care for approximately 46,000 patients annually, making us one of the largest and busiest emergency departments within the LifePoint system and throughout the region.

This fast-paced, team-oriented environment provides valuable hands-on experience, where every shift is meaningful, engaging, and impactful.

 

Our 24/7, 36-bed Emergency Department team blends advanced clinical expertise with compassionate, patient-focused care. We also offer OASIS Emergency Services, an eight-bed unit dedicated to senior patients. This specialized unit provides a calmer environment with specially trained staff and access to a gerontologist, ensuring coordinated, patient-centered care across the continuum.

 

How you’ll contribute  

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role: 

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.

  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.

  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.

  • Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.

     

What we’re looking for 
Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include: 

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required; bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred

  • BCLS required 

  • ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred; must be obtained within 30 days of employment. Two-three years of experience preferred, but new grads welcomed to apply.
