Graduate Research Assistant Position – Agentic AI (Literature Review + Agent Development)

Duration: August 2025-May 2026

Overview:
Professor Gilleran is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented graduate student to serve as a Research Assistant for a project entitled Exploring Agentic AI—AI systems that act autonomously and proactively to achieve goals, often by interacting with external tools or systems. The role involves conducting a comprehensive literature review and helping prototype an agentic AI system capable of multi-step task execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and synthesize a structured literature review on agentic AI, focusing on technical, ethical, and practical dimensions
  • Analyze and summarize relevant academic papers, industry reports, and frameworks
  • Help identify current models, toolkits, and use cases for agentic AI (e.g., OpenAI tools, LangChain, AutoGen, etc.)
  • Collaborate in designing and building a basic agentic AI prototype
  • Assist in documentation, presentations, and potential publication preparation

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Babson graduate program
  • Familiarity with generative AI, large language models, or intelligent agents
  • Strong research and writing skills; experience with literature reviews preferred.
