BASIC FUNCTIONS

The Yard Jockey is responsive to the Fleet, Warehouse, Production and Bulk teams regarding the movement/spotting of containers to facilitate each departments needs in sorting and processing material for shipment or storage. Yard Jockey is responsible for timely movements and thorough knowledge of on-hand inventory and positioning between both Catania Oils buildings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes, but is not limited to the following: 

1. Transports goods stored within a tank-wagon/trailer while operating a tractor and/or yard horse.

2. Maintains a neat and orderly storage lot oriented toward maximizing efficiency in servicing plant needs.

3. Operates Yard Truck or tractor in a safe manner during numerous roll-on/roll-off procedures daily involving loaded and empty containers.

4. Drives and operate vehicle under 15 mph in and around the plant and storage lot/staging area.

5. Conducts preventative maintenance checks to ensure vehicle runs efficiently. 

6. Communicates effectively with all personnel in regarding status. 

7. Complies with plant safety requirements.

8. Responsible for directing outgoing and inbound traffic at both 1 and 3 Nemco way

9. Communicate using cellular telephone or tablet with dispatch, operations, and plant personnel.

10. Secures valuable commodities including storage areas. 

11. Records information involving container numbers and yard positions.

12. Cleans and maintains yard truck, and associated equipment. 

13. Maintains good working relationships with internal and external personnel and seek guidance from supervisor as incidents may occur 

14. Follows Company SOP (Standard operating procedures) related to but not limited to trailer security and food & safety incentives.

15. Additional duties and tasks as assigned by management.

16. Fills in for Catania Oils CDL drivers to execute deliveries or pick-ups to and from local customers and/or vendors when required. 

17. Adhere to all laws/regulations mandated by the DOT.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· Must possess and maintain an active CDL (Commercial driver’s license) Class A

· 2-3 years’ experience with operating tractor-trailer

· Tanker Endorsement

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

EQUIPMENT USED

Must be able to perform the following tasks:

· lift various materials weighing up to 50 pounds

· Operate a tractor which pulls either a tank wagon or trailer

· Operate an electric or manual hand jack witch pull weight up to 4,000lbs

· Continues movement in and out of equipment

· Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential for success in this position. 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

A fast paced, yet controlled atmosphere where cross communication between multiple departments is a necessity. The majority of the driver’s time will be outdoors during all seasons of the year.
