General Clerk- Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany

EMI is looking for a General Clerk who primarily receives, records, and distributes work orders to service crews upon customers' requests for repairs and maintenance. The General Clerk is a highly responsible and detailed clerical position essential to the successful completion of the operations. Work involves proficiency in the utilization of Maximo (an online government database program), distribution of information and messages by direct personal, written, or telephone contact. Work is performed under general supervision according to established procedures.


Salary

$16.20/hr. plus $4.23 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

Key Responsibilities

  • Records information, such as name, address, article to be repaired, or service to be rendered
  • Relay messages and special instructions to mobile crews and other departments using a two-way radio
  • Inputs technician’s time and notes in the ticket
  • Close out tickets by putting them in a completed status with detailed notes for documentation
  • Calls or writes the customer to follow up and insure satisfactory performance of service
  • Keeps record of service calls and work orders by maintain proper filing of completed work orders
  • Assists in compiling reports related to the unit's activities
  • May interact with vendors in matters regarding supplies and material
  • Issue PO’s
  • Order supplies & parts
  • Process payroll
  • Work directly with Project manager on other , contract related projects, spreadsheets and contract required documents
  • Performs other related duties as assigned



Essential Skills


  • Knowledgeable in current office equipment and standard business computer programs
    • proficient in Maximo
  • Operate standard office equipment such as computers, typewriters, and copiers
  • Considerable knowledge of office practices, procedures, equipment, and standard clerical techniques
  • Knowledge of dispatching methods, techniques, and practices
  • Knowledge of building maintenance needs and service requirements
  • Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and equipment of the building trades
  • Adaptable and flexible in work situations
  • Establish priorities to ensure completion of tasks in a timely manner
  • PRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies
    • Including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 2+ years in a related administrative position or formal vocational/technical training in office work
    • Each complete year of accredited college education in a related field may be substituted for the equivalent number of years of the required experience
  • Regular dependable attendance
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations



Physical Demands

  • Carrying objects/boxes/print-outs short distances
  • Extensive work with a personal computer
  • May require lifting and moving as much as 25 pounds with assistance as needed
  • Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
