About the role

Purchasing Manager

 

Overview 

This is a dynamic and hands-on managerial position, collaborating with Engineering, Operations, Sales/Marketing and other business stakeholders, to execute and optimize purchasing process (especially in US, Europe, Taiwan) for all complex purchasing categories. 

The Purchasing Manager will collaborate with a global team to use KPI to monitor purchasing workflow efficiency, supplier’s performance, to identify opportunities of optimization, and negotiation for more favorable vendor contracts, payment terms and/or pricing.

 

Major Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to align purchasing management priorities with organizational goals; Strong facilitation skills to drive to consensus.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and bring clarity to problem solving, emphasizing organization, workflow optimization, and project management. 
  • Supervise and optimize workflow of purchasing orders with suppliers to ensure process consistency and maximum efficiency.        
  • Implement KPIs to evaluate supplier performance, maintain and update Approved Vendors List; identify opportunities for improvement, establish cost saving plans/actions.
  • Understand bidding and contractual steps well, to negotiate for Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of long-term services in the assigned purchasing categories;
  • Project-manage and complement business stakeholders and legal in assigned complex category purchasing, applying strong communication and negotiation skills 
  • Develop purchasing staff through training, setting performance goals, and employee evaluations, to build up purchasing function, and create Best-in-Class environment.  
  • Manage and update all policies and procedures for the Purchasing Department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ year’s proven experience in purchasing, with 2+ years at supervisory role in the high-tech or manufacturing industry.
  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in using workflow and procurement management software.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess processes and procedures for efficiency improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong business negotiation, communication and project management skills.
  • Experience in procurement of electronics Engineering IP licensing is a big plus.

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The base salary range for this position in California is $135,000 - $150,000.
