The Associate will join the Legal Entity Controllers team in the Boston, MA office, which currently is a hybrid working model. The individual will be a key member in supporting the company’s monthly and quarterly GAAP financial close process. This will include daily and monthly responsibilities relating to debt, capital and equity accounting for US and non-local business. Other responsibilities will include supporting the preparation of the company’s quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements, management reporting and ad hoc special projects.
Candidates must be active team members, interacting with local and multi-state personnel to ensure adequate control and reconciliation of information posted to the ledger. Other interactions include working with the Planning & Analysis, Local & International Reporting, Actuarial, Tax, Investments, Reinsurance, IT, and Treasury teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparation and review of inputs to support the quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements filed with the SEC, as well as Statutory financial statements.
- Perform monthly and/or quarterly close related procedures, including the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations and analysis.
- Develop, maintain and refine analytical reports to monitor and communicate key financial results, both on a consolidated view and non-insurance standalone entity levels.
- Drive close process improvements and automation of manual processes.
- Identify deficiencies in internal SOX controls and make recommendations for improvements to processing methods, workflows, procedures, and reporting efficiencies.
- Support special projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry or public accounting
- CPA preferred (will consider work history demonstrative of CPA skill set)
- Demonstrates strong analytical, technical and problem solving skills, with a focus on attention to detail and the ability to draw conclusions from research and report on findings
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, strong work ethic and high-level of personal integrity and accountability
- Self-motivated and willing to take on new challenges/audits/projects
- Experience with PeopleSoft General Ledger, Financial Consolidation and Close System (FCCS), and Smartview/Essbase is a plus.
- Understanding of Statutory accounting is a plus

The base salary range posted below is inclusive of the lowest cost of living geography to the highest in which we have a Global Atlantic office.
Global Atlantic’s base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic’s total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range.
