Job Summary
The Advisor II independently manages a student caseload, develops individualized success plans, utilizes proactive outreach and intervention strategies, and collaborates with campus partners to support student persistence and completion. This position serves as a key resource for students navigating academic, personal, and institutional barriers.
Job Duties:
Advising and Student Success Planning
•Manage an assigned caseload of students and provide individualized advising and support.
•Assist students with educational planning, course selection, transfer opportunities, and career exploration.
•Develop student success plans designed to support persistence, retention, and completion.
•Monitor student progress and identify potential barriers to success.
•Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
Retention and Intervention
•Utilize early alert systems and student success technologies to identify students needing intervention.
•Conduct proactive outreach to students experiencing academic, financial, or personal challenges.
•Coordinate referrals and follow-up services to ensure students receive appropriate support.
•Implement intervention strategies designed to improve retention and persistence outcomes.
•Monitor effectiveness of outreach and intervention efforts.
Collaboration and Student Success Initiatives
•Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, academic divisions, and student support services.
•Participate in enrollment, retention, and student success initiatives.
•Assist with development and implementation of communication and outreach plans.
•Support assessment activities and recommend opportunities for process improvement.
•Participate in professional development and special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent and 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Ability to guide students through academic planning and institutional processes while helping them understand requirements, policies, and next steps toward their educational goals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex academic information clearly and professionally to students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
- Commitment to supporting student success through proactive guidance, clear communication, and timely follow-up.
- Ability to support students through multiple advising formats, including individual appointments, group sessions, and outreach initiatives designed to promote student progression and success.
- Maintain accurate advising notes and documentation in institutional systems using established procedures.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
