Job Description

As the Director for Data Privacy, Security & Policy Management within the Enterprise Data & AI Governance Team, you will be responsible for establishing and implementing the necessary frameworks to manage access and protection of CVS Health Data. You will partner with Privacy and Information Security leadership to ensure controls are sufficient to address compliance with internal and external policies and industry best practices. Additionally, you will lead a team of security engineers focused on extending and automating data protection controls and a team that oversees our policy framework and manages audit findings and responses. You will partner with technology and business teams to educate and inform them on data handling and access and provide guidance and best practices on how to address and satisfy these requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Define frameworks and approaches to address data management concerns including
    • Sensitive Data Management including Protected Health Information (PHI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data
    • Data Protection
    • Data Obfuscation
    • Access Management
    • Access Controls
    • Data Residency
  • Direct accountability for defining data protection standards and controls across the Enterprise
  • Define strategy and vision for data protection and access control on the Enterprise Data Platform
  • Liaison to Privacy Office and Information Security to ensure that policies and standards are applied appropriately.
  • As a domain expert on data protection, collaborate with delivery teams to ensure that sufficient controls are in place to satisfy privacy and security concerns.
  • Support process for remediation of deficiencies in controls
  • Educate the enterprise on policies, standards, and patterns related to data protection.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions for enhanced controls.
  • Identify gaps, dependencies, risks, in a proactive manner and make recommendations based on objective criteria.
  • Collaborate and establish communication with business, analytics, and IT stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 + years of Experience with Data Engineering, Data Protection, Identity and Access Management, and Data Obfuscation; as well as experience with public cloud and hybrid cloud environments
  • 5+ years of expertise in applicable regulatory policies related to data protection including the US Privacy Act, HIPAA, and PCI DSS
  • 5 years’ experience with the Zero Trust Security Model and architecture patterns
  • 3 years practical experience implementing Role Based Access Control (RBAC) and Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC)

  • Critical thinker, with the ability to make decisions on technology and business needs in Data Management domain.
  • Highly motivated, independent worker, with a pulse on industry trends and best practices.
  • Ability to take ownership over process and deliverables across functional teams.
  • Ability to mentor junior resources and lead teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed environment to get alignment and buy in on strategy.
  • Ability to create messaging for the right audience including technical, non-technical, and all levels, including executives.
  • Familiarity with User Experience (UX) concepts, particularly as it relates to enabling data scientists, BI developers, Data Engineers, Analysts, and Report Consumers
