Position Purpose:
The Coordinator, Nuclear Medicine Clinical Operations & Team Lead Nuclear Medicine & PET-CT performs the duties of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist and is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the Nuclear Medicine Department, locally or system-wide. This role works closely with Administrative and Physician leadership to maintain efficient and effective operations, ensure quality, and promote change. The coordinator also assists with the development and maintenance of educational programs for the Nuclear Medicine staff, provides supervision and direction to the staff, and interacts and works collaboratively with other departments. The coordinator is patient-focused, seeking to provide an excellent patient experience.
What you will do as a Nuclear Medicine Coordinator:
- Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
- Assist department management in interviewing, selecting, orienting, evaluating, training, and counseling Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
- Oversee day-to-day patient care activities, ensuring adequate staffing and quality of diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Schedule, plan, and assign duties to staff, participate in staff meetings, and ensure compliance with Radiation Safety Policy.
- Perform routine and complex diagnostic imaging procedures, monitor equipment, and ensure proper treatment of patients.
- Maintain inventory of supplies, recommend equipment purchases, and ensure proper maintenance.
- Instruct students and new staff members, serve as a resource to Nuclear Medicine Technologists, and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technologist program and registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Associate’s degree in applied science in Nuclear Medicine required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Three or more years of experience as a staff technologist in specific imaging modality.
- Two years’ NM experience preferred.
- Three to five years of supervisory experience in a Radiology imaging modality preferred.
