THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Senior Director of Media Relations, the Director of Digital Media & Communications will shape and execute the digital communication strategy and content for Vir. We are looking for an expert storyteller with impeccable writing skills and a deep understanding of digital communication tools and platforms. You are ideally experienced in transforming abstract and complicated scientific concepts into simple and powerful content and narratives and will help reimagine how Vir communicates digitally, leading the development of compelling digital content that is fresh, engaging, and visually appealing. The ideal candidate craves ownership and drives alignment across teams.
This role is located in San Francisco at our corporate office and there is a requirement to be onsite at least three days per week.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead social content strategy across our social media channels, including LinkedIn and X.
- Develop editorial strategy for corporate digital channels, including curating content, maintaining content calendar, managing reviews, scheduling, distribution, and performance measurement across platforms and channels.
- Maintain brand guidelines for digital channels and best practices to be socialized internally.
- Ensure our website is content-rich and engaging, user-friendly, up-to-date, and aligned with the brand.
- Identify external thought leadership opportunities, including speaking engagements and award opportunities to showcase Vir thought leaders.
- Lead the development of engaging multimedia content for external channels, including social graphics, videos, infographics and long-form articles with a passion for quality and accuracy.
- Work with colleagues across the organization to mine for content opportunities, including disease awareness days, data and regulatory milestones, earnings, company events, awards and ensure engaging content is pulled through on corporate digital channels.
- Utilize analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of digital communication initiatives.
- Collaborate with communications agencies; coordinate content plans with Vir's collaborators.
WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 15+ years of digital communications experience, including at least one role at a biotech or pharmaceutical company or agency supporting biopharma clients
- Experience crafting and implementing successful corporate branding and social media plans.
- Previous experience translating complicated scientific concepts into engaging content.
- Proven ability to develop digital strategies that increase patient awareness around clinical trials and new therapies, including SEO, geotargeting and disease awareness/clinical trial landing page development.
- Knowledge of industry and digital communication trends (including UX, paid and organic social media environment) and ability to weave these trends into a cohesive digital strategy.
- Strong content creation and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborate, facilitate, and organize with important stakeholders, especially agency partners.
- Understanding of SEC and FDA regulations affecting external communications.
- Experience with Canva or similar tool
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE OFFER
The expected salary range for this position is $186,500.00 to $272,500.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
