Sr. Director, Corporate Accounting

JOB SUMMARY:

The Sr. Director of Corporate Accounting directs all aspects of the general accounting function, including management direction and oversight of the accounting close process, maintaining the general ledger, technical accounting research, ensuring effective controls, and streamlining and automating processes. This role is responsible for establishing and implementing team objectives/goals and enforcing company policies.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee all aspects of the monthly and quarterly closing process for the general accounting group including account analyses, general ledger maintenance, and ensuring effective controls.
• Provide GAAP leadership and expertise to the Company in conjunction with the Corporate Controller, including technical account research.
• Assist the Manager of Reporting with the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages as needed.
• Assist in leading the annual audit process including preparation or review of requested audit schedules.
• Provide finance management with the necessary information to make informed decisions.
• Collaborate with the Accounting Integrations team to ensure effective integration of any acquisitions into the Company’s accounting systems and processes.
• Develop staff to take on increasing levels of responsibility.
• Assist in developing an internal control environment by working with internal departments to evaluate and mitigate business risk.
• Streamline business processes through process review and automation including assisting in the design enhancement of electronic systems used for all accounting functions.
• Special projects as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• CPA and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, CPA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/tax/finance experience.
• Logistics experience a plus.
• Strong GAAP technical accounting skills.
• Lease and fixed asset accounting a plus
• Strong skill set in Microsoft applications (Heavy focus on Excel).
• Experience with Private Equity-backed companies a plus.
• Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop staff accountants and finance professionals in the organization.
• Expertise in general ledger accounting and month-end close.
• Ability to delegate tasks to ensure all staff are working effectively and efficiently and at their highest and best use.
• Ability to comfortably communicate, both verbally in presentation and conversation, and written in correspondence to staff, senior and executive management, project management, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and auditors.
• Strong analytical thinker, problem solver, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
