Job Description
Eurofins Eaton Analytical, LLC. (EEA) has a Full-Time Scientist I opening at our South Bend Laboratory in our Microbiology department. This is a full-time, hourly position averaging 40 hours per week.
Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for testing and assisting Microbiology staff with routine water quality microbial testing, adhering to department’s daily QA/QC requirements, as well as support other laboratory needs that may arise. The work schedule may require evenings and/or weekends. The candidate must also be able to work overtime on short same-day notice. Previous experience in a microbiology laboratory environment is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Analysis of samples following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Input of data into corporate database
- Filtering of microbiology samples for compliance testing as required by federal regulations
- Cleaning and maintaining specific laboratory supplies, i.e., tubing and other specialized glassware
- Following safe work practices and adhering to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner
- Preparation of reagents following SOP guidance
- Performs other duties, as directed
This role is 1st shift, M-F 8am-5pm. The work schedule may vary weekly, as assigned by the department supervisor, with additional hours on weekends or holidays (if needed).
Qualifications
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field (equivalent experience may substitute for a degree)
- An understanding of basic laboratory practices related to Microbiology or applicable fields,
- An understanding of with lab safety and aseptic technique
- Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
- Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship
Ideal Candidates will have:
- A Bachelor's degree Microbiology or Biology, with at least 1 Microbiology course
- Experience with Microbiology in a lab setting
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. as needed.
- Be self-motivated
- Excellent documentation and communication skills in Microsoft Word, Excel is preferred
- Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently
- Prior experience with microscopy
Additional Information
Pay range: $19.57-26.25
Please note - Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) provides a compensation range for informational purposes, the actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill set, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
