The purpose/function of this position is to perform system integration and mission integration for future NASA lunar exploration and lunar landing missions.  Mission integration is performed as part of the System Engineering and Mission Integration work performed within the Moon to Mars (M2M) Program (formerly ACD and CESD). Tasks include performing system integration, developing and defining mission requirements, assist in coordination and training of engineer personnel for realtime console support, and mission integration products that support and enable lunar mission planning.  The person will work at Johnson Space Center with a large team of System Engineering and Integration (SE&I) and Mission Integration personnel across multiple NASA centers in a virtual environment.


Responsibilities

  • Interface and integrate with multiple M2M Program and its supporting Programs to support, provide input to and assist in establishing mission integration plans for lunar destination and landing missions. The programs to integrate with include: Gateway, Human Landing System (HLS), EVA and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP), Orion, Space Launch System (SLS) and Exploration Ground Systems (EGS). 
  • Assist in planning and coordination of personnel support to the System Engineering console for Artemis missions, including training coordination, roster management, and other tasks to ensure complete coverage for real time operations.
  • Represent mission integration in multiple and various team meetings, analyses and discussions.
  • Provide inputs to system engineering integration plans, team discussions and planning products to support future exploration plans within M2M Program.
  • Participate in review of change requests to products, with specific emphasis on applicability and consistency with mission integration products.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • A BS degree in engineering or equivalent degree with a minimum of 7 years applicable experience
  • Experience in mission operations or integration
  • Experience in system integration
  • Experience in document development/management

DESIRED:

  • Experience with mission requirements development/management
  • Experience in developing NASA or NASA-related system engineering documentation
  • Experience with M2M Program or associated programs and projects
  • Experience with mission operations/real-time mission support

SKILLS/TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Self-motivated and proactive in integrating/communicating with others without a lot of hands on direction. Ability to lead specific tasks when needed.
  • Ability to work within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA centers
  • Ability to identify integration concerns and gaps in information and communicate concerns to leadership in a diplomatic and constructive manner
  • Ability to perform cross-program integration with multiple people for various purposes in parallel
  • Well-developed skills in both written and verbal communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
