JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Abington College, a NCAA Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) seeks candidates for the Head Men’s/Women’s Cross Country Coach opening. The Nittany Lions compete in the United East Athletic Conference. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the head coach will be responsible for the organization and management of both the men’s/women’s Cross Country programs. The traditional season is in the fall. This individual must have strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills in order to teach/coach, recruit and work with others both inside and outside the College.
Job Duties
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions:
Recruiting:
- Develops and executes an effective recruiting plan to increase numbers and competitiveness.
- Identifies prospective student-athletes qualified for admission to Penn State Abington College.
- Effectively communicates with prospective student-athletes.
- Effectively communicates and coordinates recruitment efforts with Penn State Abington’s Office of Admissions.
Coaching/Student-Athlete Experience:
- Demonstrates knowledge of, and ability to develop, sport skills, strategies and philosophy.
- Promotes student-athlete welfare and provides appropriate mentoring to student-athletes.
- Schedule practices and athletic contests
- Maintains inventory of equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
- Carry out team travel according to established policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicates within the Department and with the College community on matters pertaining to program.
