About the role

23andMe is seeking a Sr. Program Manager I to join our Consumer Program Management Team. You will work closely with teams across the Marketing and Brand departments to manage the full life cycle of marketing initiatives from proposal through delivery. You will work cross-functionally with teams such as Design, Product, Engineering, Finance, and Research, to create and manage a best-in-class process for planning and executing marketing and growth initiatives. You will ensure team members are clear on roles, responsibilities, deliverables and dates and will actively manage the overall project execution so we can deliver great campaigns and consumer experiences on-time and within budget. 

This role will report to the Director, Program Management - Planning & Insights.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with Marketing and Brand leads to manage the annual and quarterly planning for Marketing and Brand initiatives, including resource planning, project prioritization, cross-functional coordination, timelines and master plan communication.
  • Manage the full life cycle of major initiatives from job initiation to project completion without oversight, including creating and tracking project schedules, scheduling and facilitating project meetings and communicating key updates and decisions to stakeholders within Marketing and across the company.
  • Facilitate meetings and decision making, follow up on action items and keep stakeholders accountable
  • Continually review and revise project schedules as needed, escalating risks and deviations to stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Provide clear, effective and context-aware communication within and across team boundaries to drive alignment
  • Ensure actions and processes are standardized, well-documented, and comply with all applicable SOPs and regulations.
  • Assist in other critical organizational support activities, such as contracting, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Coordinate with external freelancers, agencies, vendors and partners as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.


What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training/work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in program or project management. 2+ years experience working closely with Marketing and/or Design teams is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills. PMP certification a significant plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in program/project management tools (e.g. Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.); you're fully comfortable collaborating in an online/cloud-based environment (e.g. Google Apps, Slack, etc.)
  • Experience building trusted partnerships across teams. Excellent cross-functional relationship management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal, visual media. This role requires regular communication with the Executive Leadership team.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic, high pressure and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work from 23andMe's office in Sunnyvale, CA three days per week.
