Sr. Research Data Manager

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Research Data Manager. The primary activities of this position are to lead and coordinate data management and reporting for the datacenter of a long-standing HIV research collaboration with study sites across the United States. Responsibilities include overseeing systems for data quality control and assurance, management and distribution of research data and managing data staff operations. This individual will use latest data science practices to ensure focus on data integrity, validity and reliability in accordance with standard processes and regulatory standards. Data is managed using SAS and position requires advance knowledge of SAS (including macros) for programming and providing guidance on data functions/technical operations.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• The successful candidate will lead the data management team of the coordinating center (DACC) for a complex, multi-center longitudinal study of HIV. The individual will serve as the content specialist to create and execute data quality processes and checks, solve complex problems, and develop integrated solutions for the team.
• The candidate will modify and hone scopes and processes for data quality assurance through the database lock, cleaning, harmonization, and transfer activities.
  
• This is a managerial position within the leadership of our group. This position will have 6 direct reports and responsibility for supervising, managing and mentoring this team. The individual will triage assignments, track product delivery to investigators, and provide programming guidance to their team.
  
• Lead the creation of summary variables (complex programmed key variables), create a timeline for deliverables, organize staff to complete needed elements, and oversee the process and delivery of cleaned study data to study sites.
  

• Oversee data cleaning, including identifying potential problems with study data. Collaborate with study sites to resolve issues and help create continuous improvement and ongoing monitoring processes.
  

• Manage data security and confidentiality protocols to ensure compliance with latest guidelines for secure data management.
  

• Lead data management staff meetings and provide updates on status of projects.
  

• Translate study requirements into functional/technical specifications and designs.
  

• Act as primary contact for data management staff at all sites for data issues
  

• Contribute programming and visualization skills.

• Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
• Five years related experience.
• Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

• Knowledge SQL, Unix.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and scripting.
• Experience creating longitudinal data sets for longitudinal analysis and survival analysis.
• Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills in the preparation and presentation of results.
• Good interpersonal skills in dealing with investigators and a “team-oriented” approach with other staff members and investigators.

Starting Salary Range: Min $55,200 - Max $105,000 Annually ($105,000 Targeted; Commensurate with experience)
