About the Team

The Workday Sea Otter team develops Workday's nextgen products. We offer a development environment conducive to practicing world class software engineering. Our goal is to produce the most compelling and intelligent decision making products based on AI and ML technologies.

About the Role

Work with Sea Otter team to build best in class Workforce Scheduling. Work with data to solve real business problems, and build out the infrastructure/automate the processes for our newest Forecasting product, and then expand your technical skills into new technologies such as Java, React, Typescript, Optimization, and ML!

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with our machine learning engineering team to build algorithms and build out the infrastructure

• Work on ETL processes, data pipeline management, and data monitoring

• Develop data models and pipelines for research, reporting, and machine learning, and deploy the models to production

• Streamline our machine learning workflows

• Deliver reliable/robust software through continuous integration, automated testing, and in-depth code reviews

• Work closely with Product Management to help define new application framework features ensuring a high performing and ultra-usable user experience

• Collaborate with peers on technical design, work estimation and implementation of new features including interfaces/contracts with storage system, data transformation, and handoff to front-end technology

• Be a credible mentor to less experienced engineers and provide frequent code review feedback

• Keep on top of task and bug management system for assigned issues each sprint as well as estimating and assessing priority

• Prepare for sprint planning by understanding the details (effort, risk, priority) of remaining work committed for an update

• Give ideas for continually improving the team's productivity, job enjoyment, and code quality

• Design and implement application architectures that provide rich features and real maintainability

• Perform system and performance analysis to improve system throughput

About You

• Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS or CE (or equivalent) and 8+ years of experience in software development
  • 3+ years of experience with Python programming

  Other Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Python 3.7+ including all python, python ml-related library frameworks, building framework, unit testing, and related tooling
  • Experience with some or all is a plus: Apache Airflo
