JOB SUMMARY:

The Sewing Operator safely operates a sewing machine to join, reinforce, decorate, or perform related sewing machine tasks in the manufacture of garments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes other duties as required):

• Inspects equipment to ensure it is operating properly and mounts needles and/or attachments as needed for the project.
• Monitors equipment while in operation to detect defects immediately.
• Places spools of thread, inserts bobbins, and threads ends through guides and components.
• Properly positions items under needles.
• Sews assigned pieces as directed.
• Attaches buttons, hooks, zippers, fasteners, or other accessories as directed.
• Performs specialized or automatic sewing machine functions such as buttonhole making or tacking.
• Cuts excess material or thread from finished products.
