Overview
The Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for managing the Accounts Receivable team to ensure payments and adjustments are properly posted to customer accounts, and the corresponding bank deposits are made on a timely basis. Additional responsibilities include coordinating, prioritizing, and supervising assigned activities to ensure customer statements are processed accurately and timely, ensuring all account reconciliations are executed and cleared in a timely manner, and overseeing and reconciling MFA Oil’s credit card programs with various card vendors and 3rd party processing companies.

Responsibilities
• Provide daily oversight for the staff working in Accounts Receivable
• Process all customer statements in an accurate and timely manner, researching and appropriately adjusting all errors and discrepancies discovered during production.
• Review and reconcile the Accounts Receivable general ledger, accounts, and transactions monthly.
• Timely notify the Corporate Treasurer of any discrepancies identified or accounts that do not balance. Participate in researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Communicate with external credit card processing companies to ensure issues are resolved timely and accurately.
• Adjust or correct company accounts receivable ledgers and account balances.
• Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the credit card industry and how its business rules impact MFA Oil.
• Assess people, processes, and technology to ensure optimum productivity and efficiency of the department. Propose necessary upgrades or changes.
• Manage the department’s remittance system to ensure prompt deposits are being made and accurate accounting records maintained.
• Provide training and review work to ensure employees detect errors and omissions in a timely manner in the normal course of their daily work.
• Maintain accounting audit trials for all activities conducted within the department. Create reporting to identify discrepancies for process improvements.
• Manage assigned employees including hiring, evaluating performance, making wage adjustments, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.
• Plan and direct the work of assigned employees, including providing clear direction; training, developing and motivating employees; enforcing company policies and safety requirements; monitoring productivity; and resolving conflict in a timely manner.
• Review and approve employee time entry, ensuring employees follow posted work schedules and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked
• Establish individual and team goals for each department, as well as establish personal goals with senior leader. Ensure goals are attainable and trackable.
• Assist with maintaining, balancing, and reconciling clearing accounts at the end of each month as directed.
• Prepare projections for the budget process.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Accounting, Finance or Business, or a high school diploma or equivalent and combination of education and experience totaling 4 years
• An additional 5-7 years of strong accounting experience with at least three years having been in management.
• Experience with auditing internal controls and procedures and experience in analyzing financial statements
• Good, working knowledge of GAAP and automated accounting systems and processes
• Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery including Microsoft Office products
• Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to train others, present to small or large groups, lead group meetings, and convey material concisely in written form, using proper grammar
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively in a team
• Ability to provide accurate and thorough work with attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
• Ability to motivate employees under direct supervision, evaluate performance and assist in personal and professional development
• Some travel expected to company sites and to trainings and meetings. Some of which will be overnight
