In this exciting role as a Principal Manufacturing Engineer, you will have responsibility for supporting the manufacture of high-quality batteries used in implantable medical devices including pacemakers and deep stimulators. Medtronic’s Energy & Component Center (MECC) in Brooklyn Center supports the design, development, and production of components used in implantable devices for a variety of Medtronic businesses.
In this role you will support new product development and capacity expansion projects as an Operations Lead Engineer. Key responsibilities include gathering stakeholder feedback to be an effective Voice of the Customer on new projects, designing lean manufacturing lines, and collaborating between New Product Development and Operations teams to solve problems effectively.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Develops long-term strategies for battery manufacturing at Medtronic
Leads manufacturing capacity analyses to guide business decisions
Collaborates with New Product Development teams to incorporate manufacturability in new product and process designs
Designs capable manufacturing lines and coordinates with Operations team to develop efficient manufacturing flows
Leads hypercare of new manufacturing lines with cross-functional teams
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of manufacturing and/or operations experience, OR an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Nice to Have
Experience in New Product Development and Operations/Manufacturing
Lean manufacturing experience
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Medical device manufacturing experience
Six Sigma Green Belt
