Position Summary
The Environmental Services Lead is responsible for general oversight of assigned staff and cleaning functions.  In addition to performing a variety of general cleaning tasks in maintaining patient rooms, offices, hallways or other assigned areas of the facility in a sanitary and attractive condition, the lead will act as a resource to assigned staff.  
 

Primary Duties  
1.    Provide operational guidance and training to EVS staff assigned.
2.    Provides assignments and sets priorities in alignment with all policies and procedures.
3.    Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
4.    Assists with Performance Improvement projects within the department as assigned.
5.    Performs a variety of housekeeping tasks in addition to lead responsibilities.
6.    Provides performance feedback of assigned staff to the EVS Manager as needed and during annual evaluations. 
7.    Assists with scheduling and ensures that staffing is adequate to meet the department needs.  
8.    Conducts self as a representative of management and provides position feedback and recognition.
9.    Takes appropriate steps to resolve issues related to cleanliness and regulatory issues timely and notifies management. 
10.    May act as a liaison to staff to help resolve issues effecting ability to perform assigned duties.
11.    Inspect and Observe discharge/terminal cleaning in all assigned areas and report findings.
12.    Works with management collaboratively and communicates effectively.
13.    Other duties assigned as appropriate to role.


 

Physical demands: 
•    Prolonged standing/walking
•    Occasional physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds)
•    Frequent reaching, stooping, bending
•    Occasional computer use
•    Occasional kneeling and crouching

Working Conditions:
•    Exposed to cleaning products including agents and chemicals
•    Handles Biohazard waste
•    Exposed to odors from bodily waste and chemicals
 

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience:
•    High school diploma or equivalent
•    A minimum of 2 years of experience in Environmental Services 
•    Competent with computer applications 
•    Knowledge accepted cleaning standards and regulations
•    Supervisory experience preferred
