Job Description General Summary
Serves as a specialized resource that assists office staff in negotiating, academic and industry collaboration agreements, corporate sponsored research agreements, and intellectual property licenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research Agreements: Works closely with supervisor to assist office staff with drafting, reviewing and negotiating academic and industry collaboration agreements, corporate sponsored research agreements.
- Intellectual Property Licenses: Works closely with supervisor to assist office staff with drafting, reviewing and negotiating inter-institutional agreements, materials licenses and intellectual property licenses, such as exclusive and non-exclusive patent licenses.
- IP Review for Other Departments: Works closely with supervisor to assist other departments, such as the Office of Sponsored Program, Clinical Trials Business Office and Office of General Counsel with review of intellectual property terms in their respective agreements.
- Negotiation Support: Provides negotiation support for research agreements and licenses, with guidance from supervisor, such as participating in phone calls with outside parties, to assist office staff in completing deals.
- Human Samples: Demonstrates an ability and willingness to understand the law, regulations and institutional policies related to the transfer and use of human samples, including privacy laws such as HIPAA and GDPR.
- Knowledge of Institutional Policies: Acquires and maintains knowledge of (a) Hospital's policies and procedures applicable to academic and corporate research agreements, licenses, and intellectual property, (b) applicable Harvard faculty policies, (c) other academic and professional standards for the conduct and administration of academic and corporate research agreements, and licenses, and (d) laws related to technology transfer in the non-profit setting.
Education and Experience
- Doctorate Degree studies in the area of Life Sciences, Engineering or Chemistry preferred
- 4 years of relatable experience
