About the role

High Point University’s Graduate Admissions is seeking an Assistant Director for Graduate Communication and Marketing. This position plays a key role in promoting graduate and professional programs to prospective students by developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies while also actively engaging in student recruitment efforts. This role combines social media management, digital content creation, and marketing strategy. The ideal candidate is a creative and strategic communicator with a passion for higher education marketing and student recruitment.

As the Enrollment Content Creator, you’ll highlight High Point University’s incredible distinctions for prospective HPU students and parents. You’re a results-driven writer who enjoys both long-form and short-form stories and marketing copy for a variety of print and digital platforms. Your primary focus will be writing new copy, curating and repurposing existing copy, and curating other content, such as photos. You enjoy proofreading and fact-checking content. You also love seeking out and gathering important information from campus stakeholders to channel into engaging stories over a variety of mediums, including enrollment-focused social media pages. Overall, the Enrollment Content Creator contributes to a variety of content development projects for the enrollment cycle.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Experience and Training

  • Minimum two years’ experience in strategic communications, public relations, marketing or similar field preferred
  • Experience working with a CRM (Slate is preferred).

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Communication & Marketing – Ability to create, write, edit, and proofread compelling content that promotes The Premier Life Skills University and aligns with HPU’s brand and enrollment goals.
  • Graduate Recruitment Collaboration – Ability to work closely with graduate recruiters, faculty, staff, and program leadership to develop content, campaigns, and initiatives that support graduate enrollment.
  • Leadership & Teamwork – Ability to lead, develop, and collaborate with team members while working effectively with writers, designers, photographers, recruiters, faculty, and staff toward shared goals.
  • Strategic & Results-Oriented – Ability to develop and implement ideas, evaluate campaigns and events, use data to measure results, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Organization & Attention to Detail – Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects, assignments, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Research & Content Development – Strong factchecking, research, information-gathering, interviewing, and storytelling skills with the ability to turn ideas and information into engaging content.
  • Technology – Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Slate or comparable CRM systems, social media platforms, and basic photo/video editing tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, or willingness to learn.
  • Collaboration & Relationships – Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to build positive, professional relationships with prospective students, recruiters, faculty, staff, alumni, and campus partners.
  • Problem Solving & Initiative – Ability to quickly learn new skills, solve problems, take initiative, and move projects from concept to completion with minimal direction.
  • Adaptability – Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment and adjust to changing priorities and responsibilities.
  • Professionalism – Demonstrates sound judgment, accountability, reliability, and a collaborative, service-oriented, can-do approach.
  • Travel – Limited travel, including local and occasional overnight travel as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

Marketing & Communications – Develops and executes integrated, multi-channel marketing and communication strategies that support graduate enrollment goals, including email, text, social media, digital advertising, print, web, and events.

Content Development – Creates, edits, and publishes compelling written, graphic, photo, and video content that promotes HPU’s graduate programs and maintains consistent University branding and messaging across platforms.

Recruitment Collaboration – Partners closely with graduate recruiters to develop program-specific campaigns, recruitment materials, events, presentations, phone/text campaigns, and other strategies that move prospective students from inquiry through enrollment.

Team Leadership & Student Workers – Supervises, train
