• To ensure that an independent, comprehensive, high-quality person-centred assessment of the health needs of an applicant is carried out under the criteria laid down in the Disability Act 2005 and the Education for Persons with Special Educational Needs Act 2004. 

• Ensure that the assessments are carried out in accordance with the HIQA standards for the Disability Act Assessment of need process. 

• Ensure HSE compliance with the Disability Act 2005, GDPR, and subsequent regulations.   

• Manage Assessment of Need process. 

• Develop HSE policy as required 

Essential Criteria

Candidates must have at the latest date of application: 

•  Significant experience of working with children & adults and their families dealing with complex issues relevant to the role of Assessment Officer. 

AND 

• Significant experience of working in a community health service within the public or voluntary sector. 

AND 

•  Experience of working with a multi-disciplinary team.  

AND 

• Possess the requisite knowledge, ability and experience to fulfil the duties of the post. 

 

 

Health 

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.  

 

Character 

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character. 

 

Note1: Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in a foundation level paper is not acceptable.  Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme.  The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.
