Description
The FES Center is looking for a Public Affairs Intern to drive outreach and promotion. Ideal for students in business, marketing, communications, journalism, or public relations. This role involves assisting with social media, video reels, and engaging our stakeholders, along with some administrative functions. About Us
We are a multidisciplinary, regional medical research consortium funded by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Our mission is to advance innovative solutions in rehabilitation and neuroscience, often based on the use of functional electrical stimulation, to improve the lives of Veterans and the broader community experiencing neuromuscular injury or impairment.
Location: Cleveland FES Center located at the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System in Cleveland (10701 East Boulevard, Cleveland, OH 44106)
Duration: 2026 – 2027 academic years
Compensation: $18.00/hour
Schedule: Part-time, flexible daytime / weekday hours (up to 20 hours/week preferred)
Key Responsibilities
-Content Creation: Assist with drafting articles, research, and creating promotional materials,
including visual assets, such as reels, photos, and videos for social channels.
-Digital Management & Analytics: Monitor media coverage and web/social performance while
assisting with website posts.
-Outreach & Event Support: Support the team in planning and staffing seminars and community
programs by engaging with stakeholders, participants, and clinicians both in-person and online.
-Operational Support: Provide administrative support as needed such as welcoming guests, engaging
with Center clinicians, participants & guests, organizing files, scheduling meetings, taking notes, data
entry, and providing general admin support as needed.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
-Sophomore, Junior or Senior Standing, currently enrolled in Business, Marketing, Public Relations or Communications
-Able to collaborate on Center projects as a member of our team, keep others updated on progress
-Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
-Social media experience and ability to use basic video editing tools such as CapCut Skills
Microsoft Office, Google apps, Canva, Social Media, website CMS experience is a plus.
