The University of Washington Information School is seeking a UW graduate student to provide Research Asisstant (RA) support for Amy Ko’s Wordplay project.
Wordplay is an educational programming language that aspires to be accessible, liberatory, transparent, cultural, obtainable, democratic, and enduring. We are seeking students to help with Wordplay's front-end development, implementing features that advance these goals (and probably a few bugs too). You would work closely with Professor Amy Ko, joining the team of maintainers for the project. See more at https://faculty.washington.edu/ajko/wordplaypen.
The RA will perform some or all of the responsibilities listed below. The position will require approximately 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities may include some or all of the following duties:
- Participation in the research team
- Gathering data
- Developing research prototypes
- Evaluating prototypes
- Reporting results in academic publications
- Other research-related duties as needed
Compensation:
This role will pay between approximately $2,984 to $3,865 per month, per the Graduate School's salary schedule.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate student at the University of Washington
- Enrolled in at least 10 credits during Winter & Spring 2025
- Responsible, organized, and able to get tasks done on time
