This Opportunity

WSP is actively recruiting for a Senior Vice President, Business Line Development with the potential to work out of any WSP (or any WSP Federal Office), which could include Washington, DC, Charleston, SC and Kansas City, MO.

The Senior Vice President, BLDD is responsible for driving top line growth as One WSP across all service offerings leading the client development growth strategy which, when executed, exceeds growth and revenue targets. This individual is a member of the Business Line executive leadership team, reporting to the Business Line Executive. This individual will be externally focused including the developing and growing of key client relationships, discovery of opportunities, and maintaining a strong brand image for WSP within the Market. Internal responsibilities will focus on delivering the Business Lines’ growth goals, leading development of annual business plan, ensuring the strategic business plan implementation, and collaborating and partnering with Business Line and Regional leadership to build client engagement plans, and to drive positioning, teaming, and winning capture plans.

Your Impact

  • Lead the Business Line growth performance achieving and exceeding annual targeted results.
  • Partner to develop and implement the Business Line’s strategic plan.
  • Identifies and maintain portfolio of potential US acquisition targets. Participates as a member of the Corporate M&A Team reporting to WSP USA President.
  • Leads the client engagement program for the Business Line, including mentoring Key Account Leaders to advance optimal strategies across key accounts.
  • Conducts routine portfolio analysis across service lines and key accounts, reviewing performance and recommending/implementing mitigation measures for underperformance.
  • Provides personal engagement and leadership to the Business Line’s major pursuit strategies, proposals, and interview preparations, partnering with the Strategic Growth Team (SGT).
  • Directs business partners in SGT, Comms, CRM/Analytics, etc.
  • Attends Teaming/Strategy, Risk, and Pricing Review calls to support effective Go/NoGo decisions.
  • Manages Pipeline to include achieving targeted growth metrics, data integrity, and accurate reporting. Support and communicate with operational leadership regarding significant wins and associated resourcing needs.
  • Collaboratively coordinates with the Regional Executives & Marketing Directors to ensure that the Business Line’s strategy is being effectively implemented across the geographic regions of WSP USA.
    • Regular communication and engagement with regional leadership. 
    • Communicate and coordinate Business Line’s strategic and annual growth plans within each region.
    • Collaborate on industry intelligence specific to each geographic area (to include, opportunities, client engagement, industry events, industry partner relations, market trends, potential M&As, etc.).
    • Coordinate regional business line client activities to ensure goals and metrics are being met to include support development and execution of Client Plans.
    • Support major pursuits and provide input into GNG process as applicable.
  • Partners with Business Line and corporate leadership to develop and oversee marketing and communication strategies in support of the overall Business Line’s strategic plan.
  • Represents the Business Line through involvement in high-impact client and industry events.
  • Establishes and manages the budget for funding and business development expenditures.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

  • Aligns with and assists in achieving overall company metrics, including but not limited to:
    • Business Line Goals (EBITDA, Revenue, Funding, and DSO).
  • Additional KPIs include but are not limited to:
    • Soft Backlog Growth Year over Year (New Awards/ECV)
    • Pipeline Growth Year over Year
    • Hit Ratio (By Volume and Value)

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, business, or related field with appropriate years of relevant experience considered. 
  • Minimum of 15 years of infrastructure consulting/engineering experience, including at least 10 years of successful experience in developing client relationships and oversight of client engagement teams delivering growth results.
