Required Work Experience At least 3-5 years of relevant experience, including lead/supervisory experience in the custodial/facilities/hospitality industry. Required Special Skills/ Knowledge Knowledge of institutional cleaning practices and procedures, equipment, and processes. Knowledge of effective supervisory practices and processes. Ability to assure adherence to proper policies, guidelines, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, assign, direct, and evaluate the work of assigned staff. Ability to use a personal computer, including word processing and email. Ability to learn automated quality assurance and work order systems. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong customer service and interpersonal relationship skills. Working Conditions Work requires frequent physical effort, including walking, bending, crawling, and standing for long durations. Heavy (carrying items more than 50 pounds). Work exposes the employee to hazardous materials (cleaning chemicals) and to biohazard materials (blood, pathogens) / OPIM (other potentially infectious material). Work requires the employee to wear uniforms (or gloves, or other protective equipment besides a respirator). Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during a lapse in appropriations, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted. This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate. As such, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during a lapse in appropriations, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption.
