WSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Acoustical Engineer for one of our west coast offices, Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, or Irvine, CA.
Your Impact
- Conducting Noise analyses for transportation projects (all modes)
- FHWA Traffic Noise Model (TNM) development
- Work with project teams to import project design files into TNM
- Analyze noise impacts and mitigation measures in TNM
- Travelling to project locations to conduct noise monitoring and assess land use
- Present results of technical analyses in a written, clear, concise manner
- Providing NEPA planning support to local staff
- Assist and support design teams in the execution of projects
- Provide technical input during various stages of project, including preliminary design, final design and contract documentation including cost estimates and specifications
- Attend client/agency meetings
- Maintain positive team relationships
- Assist and coordinate with key staff across disciplines, as required
- Work with local and remote staff as part of a National Service Line
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Additional Knowledge Areas:
- Familiarity with Federal (FHWA, FTA, FRA) and State noise policies.
- Vibration analyses for transportation projects (all modes)
- Noise and vibration compliance testing for industrial and power projects
- Knowledge of underwater noise modeling and assessment
- Ability to assess and create noise and/or vibration monitoring plans.
- Power plant and industrial experience
- Architectural acoustics and design

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Acoustics or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of post-education experience in noise modeling
- Ability to run CadnaA
- Experience with Microsoft office
- Experience with ArcGIS, Microstation, and AutoCad
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience working with FHWA TNM
- 2 years of experience leading traffic noise modeling analyses
- 2 years of experience in field noise monitoring
- EIT, Licensed or Charted Engineer

Expected Salary: $68,600 - $100,300
